The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most exciting tournament in the recent cricketing calendar. All the players and the spectators all over the globe are eagerly looking for the 12year old tournament from the beginning of the year. It not only gives the young stars of the universe a chance to show their talent but also makes sure that the finance of Indian Cricket will remain strong enough.
But, all the thinkings are out of equation now due to the unwanted COVID-19. That seriously effects the cricketing schedule and IPL, whose starting was finalized from March 29, and creates some clouds over its beginning in this year.
But, as the lockdown in India is going to be a bit lengthy, the starting appears to be dim. Already, Mumbai is being suspected as the hotspot of COVID-19 and some of the other states like Punjab and Delhi are highly affected due to this virus. And if somehow the IPL-2020 is going to be postponed in the upcoming time, then a lot of people may suffer the most. Here is brief look at what are the loses if that happened :
THE LOSE OF BCCI :
We have already realized where the IPL stands when it comes to the cricketing economy. Initially, the big lose will be for the BCCI.
BCCI get the Rs. 3000cr from Star Sports for broadcasting and this money is being distributed among the franchises. So, they will not pay this money in the cancellation of the IPL for showing it. And that will be a body blow.
Next, there is also a central advertising revenue pool of BCCI's sponser along with the tittle sponsers. The advertising team pay almost Rs 1000cr to the BCCI. The cancellation of the IPL will hamper this also.
So, all in all, it will be a lose of Rs. 4000cr.
FRANCHISE'S LOSE :
Now, from the BCCI it’s to the franchise. So the franchises like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders etc get a share of Rs. 200cr. fom the annual revenue. And if the money is not coming to BCCI, then it’s not going to the franchises. That will be a huge lose also.
But, if the IPL happen,then the franchises also have to spend Rs. 100cr. on player fees, hotels, flights etc .
Besides getting those 200cr money, the broadcasting and the advertisement money, they also have the cushion of money from the logos on their jerseys. As for example, the big teams like CSK, MI, KKR, they get the money of 70-80cr. for the individual sponsership.
So, if we reduce Rs. 100cr from 200cr from the franchises, 100cr is saved easily there; plus you also get 50 to 60 crore in a average way for the jersey logos. Also you earn Rs. 8- 10 cr. for the gate recipes. And this money will not come also. So, all in all, every individual franchises in case of the cancellation of IPL-2020, have to suffer a lose of almost Rs. 170- 180 crore averagely.
LOSE OF THE PLAYERS :
If there is no Cricket, then what about the players ?? They will not get there money. Some gets 15crore, as for example, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, may not have his 17crore. But this may not suffer the international players like Pat Cummins, Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli or others. But what about the other players, those who don’t play for India, what about them ???
They all have fixed their EMI, investment of their house and staffs like that based on that money which come from IPL mostly. They know how to pay it. But if there is a gap in earning those money, everything will go for a toss. They will again begin to struggle.
COMMENTATOR'S LOSE :
Those people, some of the former players, who work for getting their payments based on the number of days they work, will also be affected.
THE LOSE OF THE FREELANCERS :
People to suffer the most in the cancellation of this year IPL are going to be the freelancers. Whenever, we see a Cricket match, IPL or any other tournament, there are lots of people who are the part of the production committee, who come to work as cameraman, lightman, production manager etc. They’re actually looking at thousands each year.
So, if you leave those 2000/-, 7000/-, 15000/- , different moneys at different departments, then they will have the biggest hit. The money may not be the larger, but those people have the tight bazets.
So, the whole industry just go for a big lose, leave the hospitality, the hostels, the flights, they will surely going to be effected.

EFFECT ON YOUNG STARS :
The young stars who are going to play their debut IPL in this year, are highly excited. The money on their participation may not effect them. Because for what they are playing for now is only to showcase their talent before the world. IPL is a golden opportunity to get a chance in the Indian National team. Now, if the IPL don’t happen then it will be really tough in the future.
LOSE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO COMEBACK :
After the IPL, the T- 20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Australia. Now, all the teams have a set of 12 to 13 players who are making their way to the flight. But the final fight will be for the last couple of spots. So, the only way to cement their places in the squad is IPL.
Some young stars like Washington Sundor, Shivam Dube may miss out their places, players like Suresh Raina who want to make a comeback may be effected in that way. Hardik Pandya, who may get a chance to play in Australia later this year without the help of IPL, will miss the game practice, playing in the IPL in front of those crowd, will surely help him going into the world cup.
Nonetheless, those are the problems that the people need to face in the cancellation of the IPL 2020. Though, no body is thinking about the money at this point of time because life always comes first. But for those , to whom the money is supposed to come but will not come in their pockets in case of the cancellation of the IPL 2020 , are surely thinking about it whether you like or not. Now, we can only pray to God that things will come back right in the track and we will have a safe IPL.
