SEVEN WAYS OF REDIRECTING THE IPL- 2020

The priority will be the safety and well-being of the fans, athletes and employees, started the BCCI following a meeting with the team owners of the IPL. The 2020 edition of the IPL was put off till April 15 amid the outbreak of the coronavirus and the BCCI on March 14, 2020, reiterated its stance that will monitor the situation and work closely with the government and the other regularetory bodies before deciding on the next course of action with regards to the IPL.

But as the outbreak of COVID-19 is raising up in every week, everyday and every hour, is going to be so difficult, to held the festival of IND in sports in 2020 like the other previous years. So , the government and
the sports minister of the country are thinking about some of the ways of redirecting the IPL 2020 keeping in mind the safety issue of fans, athletes and all the other essential persons present in the stadium during the game.

So Here look at the seven ways of redirecting the IPL 2020

• HAVE A CURTAILED IPL

Already the IPL government committee and the franchise have lost two weeks. The game, what was scheduled to begin on 29th
March, is rescheduled to start on 15 April, which is still under clouds. So, we can push the date for a week and held the final on 29th or 30th May. But there are two problems. The first one is that the temperature, in IND, and most specially the places like Chennai and Mumbai, will be raising very high to make it so so tough for the players on travelling and playing. The other one is that, the franchise be sort of
their overseas player’s service of Eng and Australia for their international. commitment, at the business end of the tournament.

So what about the curtailed IPL ???? Is that a reality ???


• EXTEND THE IPL- WINDOW

First the talking was to have a cultailed IPL, Bur if we extend the IPL window of helding games during the mid week of June, then the problem would be rain in some of the places which none of the players or the fans would want to witness.

• 2 GROUPS OF 4 TEAMS

So what happened till now in the last 12 seasons of IPL i.e the round robin formula of teams playing each other in home and away, is out of equation. We can divide the four teams in two groups and make the rule of qualifications of the top 2teams for the
semifinal and then the final. But, Will there be the same flavour of real clash what we get in the IPL ??? Also the broadcaster will be hurt as the payout will be less and there will be questions raised for the salary of
the players as they are not playing all the proper 14 games.

• MORE DOUBLE HEADERS

If you want a short IPL, if u want to opposed all the matches in 60days before and now the same games in 45days, then you need to increase the number of double headers. Til now, there are only 4 double
headers, the discussion will be whether we can held the double headers on all Sundays and Saturdays and even in some of the week days. It’s going to be difficult to play games on these ways keeping in mind the
high temperature in the month of May. But again, it’s difficult but not impossible and it had happened in the past. Hard for the broadcasters though…!!!!!!!


• ALL GAMES IN THE CENTRES

Leave the home and away senario – Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Mohali, Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur, Kolkata and Gwahati (for some RR home games) and only pick two centres where you can held all the games. As for example, if we pick Mumbai, then we have Wankhede, DY patill, CCY and we move to Pune , we will get the service of 4 stadium Ms in a single State. If we talked about the previous IPL seasons, we have used 4 stadiums in South Africa and 2 or 3 places in UAE. So why not this time..??? But the problem is there also – if there are no home and away, so what about the advertisement ???

• THREE MATCHES IN A DAY

Three matches in a day, 12 to 3:30, 4 to 7:30 and 8 to 11:30. That looks so much impossible to play back to back games in this hot conditions. And as a result, you may have to struggle for injuries at the business end of the season.

• GAMES IN EMPTY STADIUMS

That looks the most reality. If u want a safe IPL, atleast for the first half, you have to held in a empty stadium. We need to stop
gathering, and this looks the best way of doing that.

All in all, that’sthe seven ways of redirecting the IPL 2020, we don’t
know. Whether it will happen or not, we really don’t Know. What will be its shape and form, we don’t really Know. And that point of time, we can’t take it overseas as all borders are already sealed. None will come
and None will go.

The only good is that the franchise, the star sports, the BCCI have said that they are not thinking about the money, money will be the last thing, life always come ls first. But when it will happen ?? Fingers crossed !!!! But whenever there will be a thinking about beginning the IPL, the discussion will be around those seven ways. Till then, we can only play the wait and watch game..
